HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation & Oxygen Therapy

Qualification current for 1 year

Course Agenda:

  • Legal issues in the workplace and community
  • Basic Life Support (ANZCOR Guidelines – DRSABCD)
  • Recognising and management of unconscious breathing/non breathing casualties
  • Awareness and implications of implementing CPR and first aid techniques to infants and children
  • CPR techniques for adult, child & infant
  • Use of an AED for adults and children
  • Chain of survival
  • Choking Management
  • Use of oxygen equipment for adults and children
  • Use of other equipment eg. Suction
  • Identify methods to maintain oxygen equipment
  • Managing life-threatening bleeding

Practical assessment:

  • Perform CPR on adult, junior and infant manikins
  • Use of an AED
  • Choking management
  • Resuscitation using all oxygen equipment inc. suction and oropharyngeal airways
  • Preparing oxygen equipment for use
  • Practice using tourniquet & haemostatic dressings

Theory assessment:

  • Theory assessment workbook
  • Other written activities
