Qualification current for 1 year
Course Agenda:
- Legal issues in the workplace and community
- Basic Life Support (ANZCOR Guidelines – DRSABCD)
- Recognising and management of unconscious breathing/non breathing casualties
- Awareness and implications of implementing CPR and first aid techniques to infants and children
- CPR techniques for adult, child & infant
- Use of an AED for adults and children
- Chain of survival
- Choking Management
- Use of oxygen equipment for adults and children
- Use of other equipment eg. Suction
- Identify methods to maintain oxygen equipment
- Managing life-threatening bleeding
Practical assessment:
- Perform CPR on adult, junior and infant manikins
- Use of an AED
- Choking management
- Resuscitation using all oxygen equipment inc. suction and oropharyngeal airways
- Preparing oxygen equipment for use
- Practice using tourniquet & haemostatic dressings
Theory assessment:
- Theory assessment workbook
- Other written activities
